This took place on 28th September in Valladolid and was organised by the Education Department in collaboration with AECOC, the Spanish Commercial Coding Association.\u00a0The initiative aimed to raise awareness among children of the large amount of excess food generated by school canteens.<\/p>\n<p>Clece formed part of the initiative as it is one of the companies awarded a contract for school canteen services in Castille and Leon, managing some 62 School Canteens in Salamanca. Silvia Sanz and Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ednez from Clece\u2019s Department of Food Safety and Nutrition helped to explain to the children the importance of \u201cclosing the circle\u201d of food waste in school canteens. They did this by communicating the concept of \u201cclever cooking\u201d using various practical and very simple examples of dishes that can be converted into others, without the need to throw out the leftovers from cooking and creating new dishes, whilst always maintaining basic food safety rules.<\/p>\n<p>The day ended with a fun workshop that captured both the adults\u2019 and children\u2019s attention through combining creativity and a healthy diet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the 1st Week Against Food Waste, Clece joined the event \u201cFood Waste in School Canteens in Castille and Leon\u201d.
