Caring for the environment, a commitment to the future
Conserving the environment is a commitment that is fully integrated into our sustainable business model. At Clece and subsidiaries, we do what we can to protect the environment through the use of renewable energies, replacing fossil fuels with other more sustainable sources and implementing policies of responsible consumption.
In line with this commitment, the company adheres to the Net Zero goal, a UN coalition within the framework of the Paris Accord, which seeks by 2050 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to practically zero and neutralising residual emissions, i.e. those that are currently difficult to avoid or eliminate completely. We are currently ahead of this goal, as we are looking to become a net zero emission company in 2045.
Our goal for 2045
We have devised and implemented a Decarbonisation Plan for Clece and its subsidiaries that establishes the company’s strategic measures to reduce and neutralise our CO2 emissions, and sets out goals for the medium and long term in three target scopes. Scope 1 relates to direct emissions from fuel consumption; scope 2 encompasses indirect emissions from bought or acquired energy; scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions produced in the company’s value chain.

The courses of action defined by the company to reach these goals are to achieve climate neutrality, develop a circular economy and give a boost to training and raising awareness among the people who make up our community.

Climate neutrality
The indicator that allows us to know the evolution towards Net Zero is the carbon footprint generated by our activity. As a consequence, since 2015 we have calculated the tonnes of carbon dioxide produced by the company, which we have used to establish the appropriate courses of action to reduce our CO2 emissions. The main measures that make up these plans are to use renewable energies, with a strong commitment to implementing photovoltaic systems; replacing fossil fuels such as oil and coal with other more sustainable options; and renewing our fleet of electric vehicles.
Sustainable forests to combat climate change
The reforestation programme of Clece and subsidiaries is a step further towards achieving our Net Zero goal. Through this project, we are neutralising residual CO2 emissions generated by our company by creating natural ecosystems that can permanently capture carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Our commitment for 2045 lies in offsetting 10% of these emissions by planting indigenous species.
Responsible consumption
At Clece and subsidiaries we invest in courses of action that promote responsible consumption, with the aim of optimising natural resources and reducing our CO2 emissions. With this goal in mind, we have established an energy efficiency and sustainable purchases policy by prioritising proximity purchases or buying organic products, among other alternatives.

Circular economy
The circular economy establishes a new model or production and consumption, in which the life cycle of products is extended, significantly reducing the generation of waste, and turning that waste into resources. It’s a system that has been established in society as one of the most important levers of transformation for environmental sustainability.
At Clece and subsidiaries we view the circular economy as a key element in our Decarbonisation Plan. We implement this model by applying the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle and recover in how products and waste, with our main objective being to reclaim at least 80% of this waste, repurposing them to return them to the production cycle as new products.
Training and raising awareness
We know that training and raising awareness are essential courses of action on our route to decarbonisation. Raising awareness of everyone at the company is the fundamental premise to carry out one of the measures that make up our strategy to reduce and neutralise CO2 emissions. At Clece and subsidiaries we have an environmental sustainability training plan. We are implementing awareness-raising campaigns among our service users, suppliers and clients.
